Digital Design Communication class is intended to improve your abilities in multi-dimensional problem solving, digital communication skills and perceptual sensitivity. The course will demand well-disciplined work and stringent standards for attendance, presentation, and process. Students develop design abilities while gaining exposure to several pieces of software, which will be used alone and in conjunction with each other to develop and convey your ideas. Therefore, this course is opened for all students in Iowa State University.

Project objectives:

  • Brand identity redesign via Adobe Illustrator
    Develop your understanding and relationship with the terms: Brand identity, Symbol, Logo and Signature.
    Experience identity development method: matrix sketching
    Utilize the appropriate computer software to produce an identity design solution: Adobe Illustrator
  • Brand application mockups via Adobe PhotoShop
    Learn how to use Adobe PhotoShop.
    Understand how to create a digital mockup.
  • Popup shop or Landmark design via SketchUp & KeyShot
    Learn how to use SketchUp and KeyShot.
    Understand the design process for 3 dimensional design.
  • E-portfolio book design via Adobe InDesign
    Learn how to use Adobe InDesign.
    Understand the differences from other programs.
